Hospice is a philosophy or type of care that provides comprehensive, loving support for people with illnesses that have progressed behind a doctor’s expectation for a cure. Hospice care provides pain management and symptom management techniques to enable individuals to be free from discomfort as much as possible. Hospice care helps people to live with dignity, in comfort and peace, surrounded by their loved ones as they approach the end of their lives.
Diagnoses that are commonly associated with hospice care include cancer, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, stroke or coma, AIDS/HIV, liver disease, kidney disease, lung disease, ALS, neurological disease.
The mission of Affective Hospice Care is to enable dying persons and those close to them to gain comfort and control over their lives, while neither hastening nor postponing death. We aim to provide a compassionate and dedicated team of health care professionals that will care for you as they would care for their own family.
Hospice care is for those whose desire is to have physical, emotional, and spiritual comfort after learning about a diagnosis with a limited life expectancy. It is best for families to utilize the care shortly after learning about the terminal diagnosis.
Hospice care services are covered by most insurance plans such as Medicare, Medi-Cal, Veterans Administration, and other private insurances. In most cases, there are no out-of-pocket expenses to the patient.
To begin services with Affective Hospice Care you may call us directly or your physician, hospital, clinic, social agency, family member or friend may refer you. The patient’s primary care physician and Affective Hospice Care’s Medical Director must authorize the start of hospice care.
